Maiden and worker in the hour of the wolf, that space between midnight and dawn, Hecate is linked to the ecstatic feminine. She rules prophecy, rites of passage and inspiration. In her sacred and rhythmic rites, the bond between sensual desire and religious longing is strong. With consort Dionysus, according to Nor Hall she “brings water from the deep unconscious and tutors in syllables of the oracular. Silver is her metal and her divination cup. In her triple form she is mistress of air, earth and sea, and her province is the sphere of time, prophecy and destiny.”
